New public space in the city

Around the striking new Salesforce office tower, inspired by the design of a tree, perched on Circular Quay, Turf has developed a new public domain that opens up a part of the city that is rapidly transforming. The project delivers a network of laneways with shops, cafes and bars open to a spacious public plaza and community building, sheltered by a dramatic artwork — an enormous gravity–defying canopy — that invites pause and reflection. Located between George and Pitt Streets, this new office, retail and hospitality destination is reinvigorating an area that has laid dormant for decades, its potential unrealised.

The project was developed with renowned architects, Foster + Partners, Adjaye Associates in collaboration with First Nations artist Daniel Boyd, and local architects Studio Hollenstein and Architectus, and coordinated with the City of Sydney as the key public domain stakeholder.

Turf Design Studio has delivered an extension to the city’s public domain working with Foster + Partners, Adjaye Associates, Architectus and Studio Hollenstein to create artful streetscapes, intimate laneways and sky gardens.
